I wrote this post 12 years and a few months ago, where I’d basically that Almace was out of my reach.
In those days, perhaps I was incorrect as Empyreans were still in demand. They’re still in demand these days, at least some of them, and though crit hit weaponskills like Chant du Cygne have fallen to the wayside outside of making skillchains at times, having another Empyrean in my arsenal (the other is Caladbolg for DRK and PLD, both of which are on the shelf for now) might be fun. Plus it’s yet another of the “all REMAs RDM can use” collection I’m slowly working on.
Anyway, when I’d come back to XI at the end of 2023 I decided it was time to start the Almace trials for real. I got through the lottery NM phase pretty quickly, then I shelved it for some reason, probably related to moving. A friend came back and is gearing up Ninja, so I was like “hey if you wanna make Kannagi it’s the same path as Almace,” so he caught up to where I was with Megalobugard, then we got through the rest of the lottery NMs, then we burned through the VNMs with my pocket bard’s colorful abyssite and /BLM for Warp.
Over this last weekend we romped through Abyssea – La Theine collecting a total of 100 Helms of Briareus, 50 for my friend first, then 50 for me.
Finally, I have Almace. It doesn’t have stats yet, but I can use it for lockstyle if I want to now. Next is Sobek then back to my friend Apademak.
It’s nice to finally make the Empyrean sword that I’d wanted back in the day for both my BLU and my RDM and to a lesser degree my PLD.
Until next time!
